For nearly a decade of that, I’ve architected ABBYY FlexiCapture implementations across banks, insurers, and large enterprises in the DACH region and broader Europe.

Classical OCR platforms that powered enterprise document automation for the past fifteen years are being challenged by Vision-Language Models, AI-native extraction, and on-premise LLM stacks. The architectural questions have changed — accuracy under regulation, GDPR compliance, hybrid cloud-on-premise deployment, integration with existing SAP, SharePoint, and ERP landscapes.
